Take a 5 day art holiday in exotic Marrakesh, Morocco learning how to use canvas and paint to capture the medieval medinas, the labyrinthine souk alleys and mountaintop Kasbahs.This art vacation is perfect for beginners as well as expert artists. You'll spend part of each day learning how to see the world through the eyes of an artist, in inspirational Marrakesh.
Your tutors and tour guides will take you to ancient souks, centuries old mosques, and the timeless El Badi Palace. You'll even walk the halls of the Ali Ben Youssef Medersa, Marrakesh's 14th century Medieval Islamic College.
At night you'll be sampling traditional Moroccan cuisine, and socializing at one of Marrakesh's fascinating local bars. There's few places on Earth that combine beauty, history and mystery like Marrakech, and it's allure has brought travelers from around the world for centuries. The local nightlife reflects this, as people from all corners of the globe mix and mingle nightly.

Welcome drinks & candle-lit dinner
Upon arrival in Marrakech, our tutor and Ahmed will welcome us. Thereafter, we will be transferred to our designate riad. Here, we will be given time to freshen up and rest for a little bit in our rooms, before we proceed to the terrace for an introduction to our holiday. We will discuss a few things about the itinerary while enjoying some ice-cold downers. In the evening, we will be treated to a candlelit dinner.
Painting class, the Yves Saint Laurent gardens & Koutoubia Mosque
After breakfast, we will leave for the exquisite Yves Saint Laurent Gardens. This is the perfect place to hold our first painting class, because of the abundance of good lighting and colors. Here, we will find our spot in a quiet corner and experiment with different media. We will then take a break and visit Koutoubia Mosque. We will continue our painting class at the Minaret.
We will have our lunch before we return to the riad for afternoon rest and another sketching class. In the evening, we will gather on the roof deck for a leisurely drink and we will take a look at our paintings and drawings for the day.
We will have our dinner at a restaurant within close proximity. Thereafter, we will sample a fun night at Café Arab.
The ancient Souk, the Ali Ben Youssef Medersa and the Berber pharmacy
We will leave for Souk after breakfast. Souk is a popular 12th century complex in Marrakech that has been a favorite spot of shoppers out there. Here, we can buy just about anything including fish, leather, spices and silk.
After our shopping extravagance at Souk, we will navigate our way through to the 14th century Islamic College at Ali Ben Youseff Medersa. There, we will find a comfortable post where we can hold a painting class. The exquisitely carved cedarwood panels can easily be a source of inspiration for us.
Before lunch, we will visit a traditional Berber pharmacy. In here are a wide assortment of natural remedies, as well as herbs and spices for cooking.
We will have our lunch in Souk and will have the rest of the afternoon for leisure – we can sunbathe on the terrace, partake in another painting class or continue to walk around the Souk.
Our magical night will be filled with the beauty of Badi Palace, a sunset painting class, few drinks, joining the festive celebrations happening in the main square.
In the evening, we will walk to the main square for a nice dinner surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Marrakech nightlife. We can also grab a quick drink at Cafe Arab on the way home.
Excursion into the Atlas Mountains
Following breakfast, we will pack for some Atlas Mountains adventures today. On our way to this natural marvel, we will be stopping by secret painting spots. We will also take in the breathtaking views of the Ourika Valley. Here, we will discover ancient Berber villages and sketch and paint the red mud dwellings.
To complete our immersion, we will have lunch in a local restaurant, where Moroccan tagines are cooked over wood fires.
We will return to Marrakech in time for our candlelit dinner.
We'll have time to freshen up before gathering once again on the roof terrace for evening drinks, dinner and a look at the day's pictures.
A morning of painting, tagine cooking class and lunch!
After breakfast, we will travel around locations in the Souk that include communal ovens and hammams. We can use their lifestyle as a subject of our painting. Prior to lunch Abdul, we will participate in cooking lessons that will teach us how to prepare Kofta tagine.
After lunch, the afternoon will be spent looking and evaluating our paintings with our tutor. In our last evening here, we will enjoy some sundowners while browsing through everyone’s masterpieces. Then, it’s off the French Quarter for cocktails and our gala dinner at Le Comptoir.
Shopping, tutorials, a final lunch and goodbyes!
If we need to shop for some more, we will visit the souk in the morning. If by now, you still have creative questions, you will be given the chance to have another one-to-one sessions with our tutors.
Our journey has to come to an end today, but the memories will be forever kept in our hearts.
