  • Help street kids back on their feet
  • Live with a local family
  • Assist with reforestation

Experience living and working in both Arusha, the safari mecca of Tanzania, and at the exotic Indian Ocean coast. Live with a local Tanzanian family, immersing yourself in their Swahili culture and make an impact on life changing community and conservation projects.

Change the lives of orphaned kids living on the streets of Arusha, look after the rescued boys with the widest smiles and best break dancing moves, building them new homes and a safer future. Help teach deaf children on the slopes of the mighty Kilimanjaro and coach English and Sport in schools at the coast, while renovating their crumbling classrooms.

Get stuck into environmental conservation projects in each location, help with the reforestation of Mountain forests and Mangrove swamps, roping in the local kids to spread the word about the benefits of renewable fuels.

Go behind the scenes in a safari camp, working alongside the Maasai staff to learn about life in the African bush. Help the rangers out on safari and view the ‘big five’ in their unspoilt natural habitat.

Finally, help to preserve Tanzania’s proud tribal traditions by restoring ancestral homes and learning ancient dances and crafts in a cultural heritage centre.

We are also very flexible and allow people the choice to extend from six weeks to ten weeks either pre departure, when you know how your fundraising is going or once overseas. The flights booked through STA travel are deliberately flexible to allow you to change your plans. - dip your toes in the Indian Ocean and experience a completely different side to Tanzanian culture – the coast is predominantly a Muslim area, get used to hearing the city’s Mosque issuing it’s call to prayer. - work with world renowned conservationists, helping to restore mangroves and plant trees alongside local children. - stay with Mama Helen, the Leap’s caring and most charitable host for a true taste of local culture and amazing hospitality. - learn first hand about Tanzania’s varied tribes through working at Makumbushu Museum and visit historical sites of the slave trade. - learn to scuba dive some of the world’s finest coral reef, swim with dolphins and party with a unique mix of backpackers and Massai tribesmen on the beaches of Zanizibar! - longer time to experience the culture and have fun overseas.maximise the value of the international flight, especially if you tag on some independent travel to nearby countries.

Weather and Seasons

It is warm and dry 25 - 40 degrees with sunny days and cool nights. The long rains are in April – June and short rains (if they arrive) in November. At this time of year you are likely to get the traditional African thunderstorm lasting about an hour or two, clearing the air, then it's hot. Or you may get a downpour at night and not get rain again for a few days. The coast is hot and humid during the months of September through to March.

It was very comforting to know that the they care about how things were going and would do everything in their power to help if ever there was a problem. Mrs Lyndon-Stanford

We felt and you proved that our son was in safe hands. Mrs Badenoch

I received my first phone call from Enzo this morning, he sounds so happy and said he is having an amazing time – camping out, eating well and hearing the lions roar at night etc! Today I thought back to the day I phoned Alice and had a long chat about what the holiday is all about. She was so enthusiastic about what she experienced and now my son is having a life time experience - a dream come true!! Tracy Ciucci
