Join us at our old-new home, the lovely Samed Cabana (www.samedcabana.com), a newly built resort in Ao Wong Duean. Located on a white sand beach, Samed Cabana offers tranquility and relaxation. Yet, with just a short walk to the other end of the bay, enjoy a selection of cafés and beach restaurants, or take a truck taxi (most roads in Koh Samed are unmade) to Ao Phai and Had Sai Kaew for shopping, nightlife and dancing.
This Thailand Beach holiday includes half board accommodation at Samed Cabana resort on the island of Koh Samed. There are two different weekday courses available as well as an early morning course plus optional boat trip and other excursions.
We offer a selection of courses, ranging from yoga and life coaching to Morning Pages, The Creative Spirit, meditation and more. Courses are informal, often held on the beach, by the pool, or in a private, air-conditioned group room. They run for four days each week, with a one day break mid-session. Participants can choose up to three courses a day or take time out to make the most of their surroundings. The groups of between 10 and 20 participants are warm and friendly with a strong community connection.
Participants often choose the group transfer, which includes two nights in the luxury 5-star Pullman-G Hotel (formerly Sofitel Silom Hotel) in Bangkok. In this fascinating city there will be an excursion to one of its cultural highlights and also a chance to experience the city’s colourful nightlife. If required, Skyros can arrange extra days in Bangkok.

Our partner resort is Samed Cabana in Ao Wong Duean in the south east of Koh Samed. In the resort you will share large superior twin-bedded cabanas. These superior and deluxe air-conditioned bungalows are nestled in the palm trees along the beach, or beside the pool. Upgrades to single occupancy of a superior or deluxe room are available. All rooms are air conditioned, with ensuite facilities and balconies. Only seconds from the white sand beach they have an appealing simple style and comfort. The resort has a beachside restaurant, massage and spa treatments and swimming pool.
Thai cuisine has a worldwide reputation. Meals are flavourful and seasoned with lemongrass and basil and there is an emphasis on fresh seafood. Breakfast and lunch are provided at the resort and take the form of sumptuous buffets with a huge range of options including vegetarian and more spicy food. On the night of arrival in Koh Samed and on the final evening in the resort there is dinner in place of lunch. Samed Cabana has a beachside restaurant serving evening meals and fresh barbeques at approximately £8 - 10 per person. There are always delicious options for vegetarians. Other restaurants are within walking distance, or you can take a truck taxi to other beaches.
Ao Wong Duean beach has restaurants, many serving fresh seafood barbeques. If you take a truck taxi to Ao Phai you will find the famous Silver Sands beach disco (a firm favourite with Skyrians in the past) with its fire juggling show and new moon parties and Naga Bar. Further a field is Had Sai Kaew, with many beach restaurants, karaoke and lady boys. This is the more ‘back packer’ end of the island. For all that Koh Samed is extremely safe and hassle free.
We chose the hot, dry season for the best posible time to go. Average temperatures are 27 to 30C.
Transfer to the Island
We offer a transfer from Bangkok to Koh Samed for £175.00 which includes two nights shared accommodation (one before the holiday and one on the last day of the holiday) at the 5-star Pullman-G Hotel in Bangkok, and coach and ferry transport to and from Koh Samed. In this fascinating city there will be an excursion to one of its cultural highlights and also a chance to experience the city's colourful nightlife as an optional extra.
If you are taking our transfer: Book your return flight to arrive in Bangkok the day before the holiday begins and fly home the day after it ends. You should aim to arrive in Bangkok before 4pm, and can take a metered taxi to the Pullman-G Hotel (formerly Sofitel Silom) for around £8.00, to join the rest of the group. Return flights can depart any time on the day after the holiday.
Please note: Due to time differences some flights may arrive in Thailand the day after they depart, so please do be sure to check your arrival day. If you are confused at all, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help.
You may prefer to make your own way to Koh Samed. You can do this in one of two ways:
Taxi: Order a reputable taxi from a hotel concierge. A taxi from Bangkok to the port of Ban Phe (a journey of around 3 hours) will cost 3500-4000 Baht. You can also get a taxi from Suwanabhimi Airport to Ban Phe (The Airport is en route to Ban Phe and cuts an hour off the journey) for 2500 Baht. Bear in mind that ferries from Ban Phe to Koh Samed stop in the early evening.
Bus and ferry: Take a bus from Bangkok Ekamai Eastern Bus Terminal to Ban Phe. You will need to book your seat. Buses run hourly. The journey will take roughly 4 hours depending on traffic. From the bus station it is a 5 minute walk to the pier.
If travelling to and from Koh Samed independently: You will need to meet the rest of the group on Koh Samed on the first day of the holiday. Your return flight needs to leave Bangkok no earlier than late evening on the last day of the session. We recommend spending the night in Bangkok and travelling the day after.
There is no domestic flight to Koh Samed.
All passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the return date of the holiday. If arriving by air you will be issued a 30 day visa exemption. However, if you are planning on travelling to more than one country it may be worth applying for a 90-day entry visa.
Koh Samed: (sometimes written as Ko Samet) is located in the Gulf of Thailand 141 miles southeast of Bangkok. The island derives its name from the cajeput tree which grows everywhere on the island. Written about by classical Thai poet Sunthorn Phu (there are statues of his characters scattered around the island) the classical name of the island is Koh Kaew Phitsadan or the "Magic Crystal Island". The island is part of the beautiful Koh Samed National Park, and offers a range of activities, from walks in the interior, diving and snorkelling as well as a lively nightlife. Koh Samed is very safe and hassle free.
