Experience open water swimming with your friends or family in this week long Mediterranean swimming holiday! Located just off the south-eastern coast of Ibiza, the island of Formentera is an open water swimmer's paradise.

You'll enjoy a sea view from practically every point on the island, and you can bask in any one of its numerous white sandy beaches. Many bays dot the island, some of them with inlet grottos that dig into the bedrock, letting in the azure colored seas.

Formentera enjoys springtime temperatures during most of the year and its rich vegetation adds to it's quiet and relaxed ambiance. That's why Formentera considered one of the last Mediterranean paradises which certainly deserves to be known and shared.

Your swimming safety is of the utmost importance - that's why all routes have been previously tested by a technical team, while all tours are fully guided and escorted by safety vessels. To get the best out of your swimming technique, swimming guidance and technique analysis are always provided. Risk assessment of the swim locations are also carried out by the tour team in the mornings.

Many other activities are included in the tour, like hiking and biking along the island, kayaking, and learning basic seamanship and helmsmanship on a catamaran.

Day 1-Formentera

Transfer to the hotel situated in Es Pujols village which is close to the beach. Pre-trip briefing in the early afternoon in which the details of the week's plans will be discussed in more detail. This first day features an enjoyable swim running along Es Pujols beach + Team Building.

Day 2

We start the day with our first short coastal swim along the iconic area of Illetes (3k swim) which is part of Ses Salines Nature Park. During the swim, we will video your stroke “stroke improvement session”. Following this it’s back to the hotel to playback the video analysis with our expert coaches.

Afternoon at leisure to explore Es Pujols village. There is also the chance to have fun riding a bike along with our team. Bicycle is the ideal vehicle to tour the island from end to end which besides not contaminating, enables one peacefully to visit rare spots which would otherwise pass unseen.

Overnight Es Pujols

Day 3

Today we head to a little uninhabited island. Espalmador (3.5k swim) is the stuff of dreams which is located just a few meters offshore at the most northern point of Formentera with pure white beaches and fabulously clear waters. There are no buildings on this island.

OPTIONAL: In the afternoon you will learn to sail a Catamaran. Different levels. If you have never sailed before, you will have learned basic seamanship and helmsmanship and you will be a useful crew member on any yacht. If instead, you already have basic navigation and sailing ability you would be looking at taking this course you will learn basic pilotage, boat handling, seamanship and navigation

Overnight Es Pujols

Day 4

Today features an enjoyable day out (6k Hiking) as we take advantage of the Formentera marvellous countryside joining the Cami de Sant Agusti hiking adventure to the point with the bests views of the island.

It offers panoramic views over the island, going round the spectacular cliffs of Racó de Sa pujada and going through pine trees. On clear days the outline of Eivissa and the islets Vedrà and es Vedranell can also be seen.

As a reward for the effort in climbing up there and after the walk, we will enjoy eating a meal of hand-made Spanish paella.

In the afternoon, for participants that prefer to rest and relax they can do it. But if this isn´t your case, then you might join the rest of the group at Es Pujols beach. Find participants themselves swimming while improving swimming technique supported and supervised by our professional coaches.

Overnight Es Pujols

Day 5

Gain the vitality you need for the challenging swim which runs from Punta Pedrera to Cala Saona (4-5k swim). The first is a place where strangely unique rocks make a stone desert that forms natural pools where it meets the sea. Take a cool dip in these natural pools before the swim starts and enjoy magnificent views of the impressive sea beds, La Torre de La Gavina, a sixteenth-century watchtower, and the islands of Es Vedrà and Ibiza.

Those who have a chance to swim along the coastline will also be able to view the immense semi-underwater caves carved into the cliffs. Ending the swim in Cala Saona will let you enjoy one of western Formentera’s most attractive enclaves. Safety and protection in the water are guaranteed.

In the early evening and having arrived by kayak, the audience in Punta Pedrera sits waiting for watching the sunset. When the afternoon comes around, you will experience one of the most romantic sunsets you've ever seen, and at night you'll be lulled to sleep by the mystical sounds of the ocean waves.

Overnight Es Pujols

Day 6

Punta Prima (4k swim) is one of the few natural land migrations places in Formentera that remains intact today thanks largely to its difficult access to the beach. Luckily for swimmers its relatively simple to reach the sea shore.

We will spend the rest of the day at Es Pujols-Punta Prima little bay. You can either enjoy sunshine or some coordinate optional water activities.

Overnight Es Pujols.

Day 7

Unfortunately the trip comes to an end…If you have time before leaving you can join the last short swim in Llevant beach (3k) to end a fantastic week of swimming and culture!

Getting There:

Formentera is a real island, as it does not have an airport and is only accessible by sea. This makes getting there a bit more difficult and expensive. However, Formentera's virtues – wonderful state of preservation, tranquillity, etc. – are largely due to this isolation.

Arrival in Formentera is via the island of Ibiza, which is easily reached by air or by sea from various peninsular ports: Valencia, Denia and Barcelona. During high season Baleària boat company links the harbour of Dènia and the one of Formentera without passing through the island of Ibiza.

Once in Ibiza, there are various companies running boats to reach the port of La Savina – the only route in and out of the island – and covering the route every day of the week, with different frequency depending on the time of year.

It takes 25 minutes to sail between the port of Ibiza and La Savina, past the many islets situated between both islands: Espalmador, Penjats, Malvins, Porcs.

FAQs

I am not sure about transport links to arrive in Formentera When you arrive at Ibiza airport, you can get either a taxi or a bus directly to the harbour. Bus number 10 from right outside the airport will take you there too. At the harbour you will find several shipping companies that connect Ibiza to the port of La Savina in Formentera. You do not need to prebook a ticket as ferry companies run quite frequently.

Do travel companions pay the same as participants? Couples and other companions do not pay the sameprice as the participants of the trip.

Are wetsuits mandatory? No, they aren´t. It´s recommended that you bring one with you but they are no compulsory. The average water temperature ranges between 22°C in September and 24°C in October.

What happens if the minimum number of participants is not reached? Sometimes we don't find enough participants to be able to run a tour and technically, we could cancel the trip. In most cases, we are able to still run the tour but must charge a supplement which depends on the actual number of participants. If the number of participants increases afterwards, the per-person-price is readjusted in your favor. When the number of participants is below the minimum (less than 8 participants), we will inform you about 2-3 months in advance of the trip and consult you with your options, which can include the additional supplement or simply waiting for more participants.

How many guides will accompany us? Depending on the number of participants. Our technical director and swim coach Daniel Pagés will accompany you throughout the whole trip. Daniel speaks fluent English and will help if any problem arises. If anything makes him unique on tour is flexibility to fit your proposals.

Do you book flights? In most cases, the flight ticket is NOT included,- because our clients come from literally all corners of the world and groups are generally mixed. However, on request, we can include a flight ticket for you and book your flight.

Who I will share room with? If you travel on your own, allocation of rooms for participants will be according to your age and gender, if possible. At the time of booking and in case you come along with another person, please let us know the name of the person you travel with.
