Silver Island is a privately owned, untouched dream island offering you the most unique yoga experience.
Situated a few miles from the mainland, Silver Island has been the home of the Christie family for 50 years and now opens its doors and sublime tranquility to those in search of a sense of inner peace and an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Silver Island is 60 acres of gently rolling hills, small idyllic coves, ancient old olive groves, cypress trees and wild flowers, the rhythmic sound of cicadas all surrounded by the crystal blue Mediterranean with glorious views every way you turn, all captivating to the eye.
Comprised of just a couple of white washed and blue shuttered traditional Greek homes, a church and lighthouse, Silver Island lends itself to a peaceful and rejuvenating experience. This is truly a magical place to practice the art of yoga. A place you can unwind and merge with nature and self.
Silver Island Yoga is a small & exclusive retreat accommodating up to 12 guests in six beautifully decorated and inviting rooms.
During the day the pebbled beaches, hidden coves and miles of pathways offer a chance for guests to spend time alone in quiet reflection between the two hour dawn and sunset yoga classes. We have invited the most beautiful of teachers whose ethos and way reflects our own.
Silver island yoga is about getting away, magic, nature, wellness, transformation and rejuvenation. Our wish is create an experience that inspires peace, serenity and mindful living.
Silver Island Yoga prides itself on employing environmental best practices wherever possible. With no mains electricity, the facilities use a generator and solar power to harness the sun's energy to heat water that is collected and filtered from the winter’s rainfall.
Greek organic and biodegradable toiletries are also provided for our guests, as water is recycled for watering the gardens.
What is yoga and why retreat?
A gift to self
Yoga helps dissolve tension, allowing us to anchor into the stillness of our being. We discover inner harmony, regenerate cells and heal, thus feel revitalized and energized. Leaving a soft glow on the face and sparkling eyes.
Retreats allow you to go deeper because we leave behind the usual distractions and arrive into a space of self-reflection where we return 'home', to the very essence our true nature, which is freedom and pure joy. This can also be understood by the yogic term, pratyahara.
Once we step back, from a sensory world that absorbs us, all arises from within and our tendencies amplify. In this way we develop clarity where lucidity of the mind is revealed. It is in this space we can release unwanted habitual patterns created by stress from modern day living.
Stepping back once in a while, we find comfort in our home again, living in the body and mind with freedom, making the most of our life.
Yoga is an ancient practice abundant with healing effects and transformations. We can aspire and express gratitude to the Great Indian Sages, Yogis and mystics of many other traditions world wide, who teach us contemplative ways of being, living peacefully and connecting with the self and world around us. Yoga is an expression of the soul, the body and mind dance in art form on a deep journey to the self. Silver Island Yoga offers a practice for everyone.
Your practice is a personal journey. Either a complete beginner or a regular practitioner, we invite you to relax at your pace as we guide you to explore deeper.
Yoga offers vibrant combinations of spontaneous movement using the body, breath and energy of the mind. Each technique supports, complements and lends itself to the next in synchronicity with each other, whilst all correspond to the physical, emotional and mental characteristics of our personality. It is here where the alchemy of yoga arises.

Precious things in life are: clean air, sunshine, quality food, sharing food with others, mother nature, exercise and movement, love, laughter, creativity, beautiful environment, respect for the environment and each other and these are all things to be found in abundance on Silver Island.
I believe Silver Island will become one of the worlds sought after Yoga retreats, and one of the finest holidays I have had. Its magic lies in having all the ingredients of a true home!
A week on Silver Island is a perfect place to catch your breath from daily life. A week of yoga, gorgeous healthy food, sun, swimming, kayaking, and exploring a beautiful island left me feeling totally revived. The hosts are great and so accommodating that you feel at home from the moment you step off the boat onto the island.
I cannot recommend this magical little island highly enough. The views, the house, the yoga, the wonderful sun-soaked veggie food, and the warmest of hosts.... To get this sort of private island idyll you usually need to travel to the Asia. There really is nowhere else like Silver Island in Europe.
I loved how much space I had to think and read and write and also do some art. Lissa is an incredible cook and such a lovely person as is Corne. Huge thumbs up. What a beautiful spot, thank you for sharing it! I walked away a happier person
I had an amazing time at Silver Island, great hosts, delicious food, beautiful weather. The retreat itself was a life changing experience and I met very interesting people. I will be back!
_Silver Island Yoga....One of the places to visit before you die. _
It was magical, it was fabulous, it was everything I expected and more...
I did not want to leave - ever ...yoga, meditation, tranquillity, superb views, sun, sea and sand...lapping waves...sunsets.
Delicious, wholesome vegetarian meals...enchanting accommodation, super-clean crisp white linen, outstanding hospitality...smiles...laughter...alone-time...thinking time...shedding baggage...new beginnings...
...serenity, peace, freedom...time to think and reconnect with yourself...the best present I have ever given myself...
...can't wait to go back....the silver island of my dreams...
My Silver Island hosts greeted me with warm and dazzling smiles before I had even stepped off the bus in Oreoi. Then we hopped into a speedboat and skipped over the sparkling sea, with the island growing ahead. That was pretty cool.
My physical state on arrival was rather woeful. Between a back strain and my late period, I just didn’t think I’d be able to avail of the full asana practice. How delightfully wrong I was! This is what I did each day:
Morning restorative yoga; divine breakfast under the pine tree; walk along sandy island tracks; swim naked in clear seas (no sharks! love the Med); divine lunch in the shade; read; nap; sunset yoga; divine dinner under the stars; sleep; and again the next day. Throw in a dawn kayak to watch the sun rise, a full body massage, conversation and meditation as you please… in a most beautiful place, between the mountains and the sea…
I suppose here is where I should say that my back began healing, my digestive system seemed to completely re-set, I felt happy (it had been a while) – and, indeed, all of this is true. I had a moment when I was so revitalised one morning, swimming back to land and onto a beach, that I felt like Ursula Andress in Dr No emerging from the waves… albeit saggier, blindingly milk-bottle white, and wearing some plastic ‘jelly shoes’ rather than a skimpy, figure-hugging bikini. Having kayaked there utterly alone, there was no cause for self-consciousness, nothing to make me feel anything less than Venus rising! Considering that I have never looked anything like Venus and that I felt somewhat like a Harpy when I arrived on the island, that’s a fairly significant outcome after only three days.
One evening I read a line from my holiday book: “just to be able to study the sky, is reason enough to be alive.” Then I looked up, and saw shooting stars.
I hung out by myself in the most wonderful nature but also spent some time with great people.
The owners of the island show great respect to the visitors and the environment that enhance the stunning natural beauty of the place. It is the perfect place to withdraw for some time and spend some valuable time with yourself and others.
Silver Island Yoga - the double heart-shaped island - has touched my heart deeply ... from the moment we were greeted in Oreoi to the moment we left it was bliss.
I loved every aspect of my stay - my room, the bathrooms, the villa, the views, the beaches, the seals, the peace and tranquility. The food was excellent and sooo good looking. Prepared with love by two beautiful people in love.
The yoga with Niamh was the best - I wish I had done some meditation with her too.
Thank you Niamh, Claire, Lissa and Corney. I will be back for a very special birthday next year.
