Travel by bike & ship: A unique concept combining cycling and a voyage aboard our comfortable ship. Cycling cruises are perfect for all who like to cycle during the day and explore beautiful areas, without foregoing a comfortable way of travelling. You don't have to pack your suitcases every day to travel from one beautiful place to the next!

This eight day self-guided tours (briefings by tour leader with maps, instructions and directions)—running from Sat to Sat—will cover a total of 215-230 cycling kilometers (approx. 125-135 miles) in 6 days. (But you can always skip a day and cruise along on the ship).

Expect to enjoy a unique cycling tour and cruise along the famous river valleys of the Rhine and Neckar. The charms of these two rivers will not fail to disappoint. Enjoy stunning scenery daily, beautiful cycling tracks along the rivers, famous cities and picturesque villages.

Decisions decisions: Is the Neckar more picturesque at Marbach—birthplace of writer and poet Schiller, or perhaps at the Odenwald, which the river flows through? Maybe you prefer "Father Rhine" which is associated with the famous Nibelungen saga, the Loreley rock, the city of Worms with its Cathedral and the numerous museums in Mainz? Or Heidelberg with its magnificent Castle, the narrow streets of the old town centres of Eberbach and Koblenz—just a few of the highlights that can be seen along the Rhine and the Neckar.

The stretch of cycle path along the left bank of the Rhine between Bingen and Koblenz passes through the Rhineland Massif, fashioned with castles. Make your own choice as to what you consider to be the most beautiful. It won’t be easy.

The quality of cycling tracks is excellent: a majority are paved along the rivers without any gradients of note. This makes the trip also suitable for relatively unpractised cyclists.

The journey along the Rhine and Neckar leads from Koblenz to Bad Wimpfen, and the return trip takes place the following week in reverse. On various dates, our ship also sails along the River Moselle and Saar—from Koblenz to Saarburg, and a week later makes the return journey, both tours with highlights like Trier, Cochem and Bernkastel. A combination of tours allows for a perfect match, with a particularly varied 14-day cycling cruise.

You will live and travel on board the MS PATRIA, which has been a favourite ship for bike-boat holidays for many years.
