Swimmers of all ages and swimming experience, get ready for seven days of marvelous open water swimming off of Spain's southern coast! Your first stop, the seaside resort of Sitges, a Mediterranean city with large avenues, picturesque streets, golden beaches and a wide variety of cultural heritage museums - all just 35km from the Spanish capital of Barcelona. Next, it's Calella de Palafrugell, an out-of-the way coastal town known for its beautiful small coves.

Whether you want to take it easy, or swim out those extra K's, you'll embark on daily swims along picturesque nearby coastlines. If you're feeling adventurous, try the cross-border swim from France to Spain in Cerbère!

During the tour, you will swim through the open water along the Garraf Natural Park, parallel to an ancient footpaths in Camí de Ronda, along a scenic route from La Fosca to S'alguer, through the coves of Palamós, and in a small bay on Cap de Creus peninsula (3-4k).

In Sitges, free time is spent exploring the city's cultural heritage as well as wine production techniques. In Calella de Palafrugell evenings are free to swim or explore the town. In your final day at Barcelona don't forget to visit the city's outdoor markets, restaurants, shops museums and churches.

Your swimming safety is of the utmost importance - that's why all routes are fully guided and escorted by safety vessels.

Day 1

Sitges, a seaside resort 35km southwest of Barcelona

Morning transfer to the hotel situated in front of the beach in Sitges. After your arrival you will have a chance to relax before meeting in the early afternoon.

Afternoon "welcome" swim (short acclimatization swim, 2-3k). Stretch out after a long flight and loosen those muscles. Welcome dinner at the hotel and a pre-trip briefing which the features of the week's plans will be discussed in more detail. Overnight Sitges.

Note: The beaches are very colorful and fun! The city which overlooks the Mediterranean has large avenues, narrow streets, various museums and the gorgeous beaches of the Golden Coast.

Day 2

Sitges Natural Park

MORNING: We start the day with our second coastal swim along the iconic area of The Garraf Natural Park (3-5k). This route winds its way through the heart of the Catalan coastal mountains. A beach of shallow, calm an clear water.

AFTERNOON: Guided tour of the local wine cellars of Vilafranca del Penedés. Our guides will explain the process of creating cava and wine and how technology has gradually been incorporated into the méthode traditionnelle. Following this, visitors will have free time to visit the town and its imposing bell tour.

Day 3

Calella de Parafrugell, small fishing village on the Costa Brava.

MORNING: After a leisurely breakfast we will transfer to Calella de Palafrugell. IN THE AFTERNOON: Swim in the area of Lafranc (3k). We swim following the entire coast along the Camí de Ronda, part of an ancient series of footpaths along the coast. While swimming will observe some snug pebble beaches half canopied by pines and embraced by golden rock outcroppings.

Day 4

Palamós surrounded by beautiful little coves & concealed by pine forests

MORNING: Scenic swim from La Fosca to S'alguer then along the coast and loop back to Platja del Castell (approx 5k). The area we swim today it´s quiet, colorful and isolated.

AFTERNOON & EVENING at leisure to explore the town. Alternatively an informal swim in Calella de Palafrugell might be organised.

Day 5

Cadaques, home of the Salvador Dalí House-Museum

MORNING: Very early in the morning we will transfer to Cadaques. Cultural activities are scheduled for today in search of a relaxing, restful day out, but not before the swim is completed. Wonderful swim in Portlligat , a small bay on Cap de Creus peninsula (3-4k)

AFTERNOON: After many days of swimming, today you will enjoy the Dalí Theatre-Museum, the largest surrealistic object in the world.

Day 6

Cross-border swim from France to Spain

MORNING: After breakfast we will transfer to Cerbère for our cross-border swim from France to Spain. The swim will start in Cerbere and finish in Portbou (approx 3k). The crossing takes us from the small village of Cerbère (France), following the line of its eponymous Cape to the bay of Portbou (Spain). The 3.300 metres between the two locations allow you to take in a beautiful landscape where the wind and Pyrennean air are always a feature.

Note: Swimming across from one country to another brings together a mix of experiences you should not miss.

Day 7

Barcelona (outdoor markets, restaurants, shops, museums, and churches)

MORNING: After breakfast transfer to Barcelona. If you have time enough we will transfer to Barcelona Beach for our "farewell swim". After the swim we will reminisce over cocktails while watching the sea over the Barcelona skyline.

Unfortunately it is time to move on to your next destination. We hope you have enjoyed this trip!

Insurance

All travelers much take out travel insurance that will cover them for the duration of their journey. We can arrange the insurance for 20 € per participant. Insurance must cover personal injury, death, harm and/or damage to property or other losses deriving from any circumstances that are outside our control. Please inform us of any personal details that might affect your enjoyment of your journey or activity.

F.A.Q.

Who I will share room with?

If you travel on your own, allocation of rooms for participants will be according to your age and gender, if possible. At the time of booking and in case you come along with another person, please let us know the name of the person you travel with.

What happens if the minimum number of participants is not reached?

Sometimes we don't find enough participants to be able to run a tour and technically, we could cancel the trip. In most cases, we are able to still run the tour but must charge a supplement which depends on the actual number of participants. If the number of participants increases afterwards, the per-person-price is readjusted in your favor. When the number of participants is below the minimum (less than 8 participants), we will inform you about 2 months in advance of the trip and consult you with your options, which can include the additional supplement or simply waiting for more participants.

How many guides will accompany us?

Depending on the number of participants. Our technical team/guides will accompany you throughout the whole trip. They speak fluent English and Italian and will help if any problem arises. If anything makes them unique on tour is flexibility to fit your proposals.

Do you book flights?

In most cases, the flight ticket is NOT included, because our clients come from literally all corners of the world and groups are generally mixed. However, on request, we can include a flight ticket for you and book your flight.
