Swimmers looking for a rugged open water experience will want to look into this 6 day swimming holiday off the coast of Costa Brava! You'll first be staying in the coastal town of Calella de Palafrugell, National Geographic's top rated tourist destination known for its beautiful small coves. Cadaqués will also be your home for three days where you'll embark in more swimming explorations. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try the cross-border swim from France to Spain in Cerbère!
The area is characterized by its raw landscape, warm and transparent waters, while your swimming routes pass by steep cliffs and lush vegetation. The Costa Brava region has great cultural significance, being a favorite of artists like Picasso, Rusiñol and Dali. You'll also enjoy leisurely activities, historical sites and unique gastronomic experiences.
Your swimming safety is of the utmost importance - that's why all routes are fully guided and escorted by safety vessels. All swims have also been previously tested by the technical team. Your swimming technique will also be analyzed in depth, so that you can improve as you go!
Calella de Palafrugell
MORNING: Transfer to the hotel situated at the beachfront Calella de Palafrugell hotel.Following your arrival, you can relax before our first meeting in the early afternoon.
AFTERNOON: You first "welcome" open water swim will be a short acclimatization of 2-3k. During your welcome dinner we will brief you on your your tour's features and discuss the itinerary in more detail.

Islet of the Formigues Islands
MORNING: You'll leave for the open water n the Cap Roig area (length of swim 4-6-km). Weather permitting, we will reach the Formigues Islands which have a rich animal biodiversity.
AFTERNOON: We'll be headed to the village of Pals, the home of a medieval castle - you'll be returning to the past for a few fours!
Overnight in Calella de Palafrugell.
You'll swim while surrounded by beautiful coves that are concealed by the area's pine forests.
MORNING: We're off for a scenic swim from La Fosca to S'alguer, then along the coast before returning back to Platja del Castell (approx 5k). The area we'll be swimming in today is a quiet and remote location with great natural beauty!
AFTERNOON & EVENING: You're free to explore the town of Palamos at leisure! Alternatively we can always go for an open water swim in Calella de Palafrugell.
Overnight Calella de Palafrugell
We'll be visiting Cala Montgó & Cadaques, the home of the Salvador Dalí House-Museum.
MORNING: Following a healthy breakfast, we're off for more swimming exploration. This time, we head to Cala Montgó (3km swim) where we'll then swim in the bay of Montgrí Natural Park. You can visit the many caves of this spectacular bay.
AFTERNOON: As we're in Cadaqués, we'll explore the town and it's great fishing tradition. Here we'll spend the last three days of the tour and enjoy the Dalí Theatre-Museum, the largest surrealistic object in the world.

Today we'll embark on a cross-border swim France to Spain
MORNING: Following breakfast we'll leave for Cerbère and our cross-border swim from France to Spain. Starting in Cerbere the 3km swim ends in Portbou. Take the time to admire the beautiful Pyrennean landscape - don't forget that swimming from one country to another is a unique experience in itself!
AFTERNOON: The rest of the day and evening will be free for you to explore the area!

Portlligat Islands Swim
MORNING: Our swim for today is to the coves of Cadaqués, in Portlligat (3.5 km swim) - the city was Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dalí's residence for many years. During our open water swim we will come across several islands.
AFTERNOON: We'll visit the Cap de Creus National Park. Season permitting, a small train can take us to the area.
Overnight in Cadaques
MORNING: After breakfast you'll leave Barcelona. Time permitting, you can visit the many outdoor markets, restaurants, shops, museums, and churches, or a "farewell swim" and lunch!

All travelers much take out travel insurance that will cover them for the duration of their journey. We can arrange the insurance for 20 € per participant. Insurance must cover personal injury, death, harm and/or damage to property or other losses deriving from any circumstances that are outside our control. Please inform us of any personal details that might affect your enjoyment of your journey or activity.
Who I will share room with?
If you travel on your own, allocation of rooms for participants will be according to your age and gender, if possible. At the time of booking and in case you come along with another person, please let us know the name of the person you travel with.
What happens if the minimum number of participants is not reached?
Sometimes we don't find enough participants to be able to run a tour and technically, we could cancel the trip. In most cases, we are able to still run the tour but must charge a supplement which depends on the actual number of participants. If the number of participants increases afterwards, the per-person-price is readjusted in your favor. When the number of participants is below the minimum (less than 8 participants), we will inform you about 2 months in advance of the trip and consult you with your options, which can include the additional supplement or simply waiting for more participants.
How many guides will accompany us?
Depending on the number of participants. Our technical team/guides will accompany you throughout the whole trip. They speak fluent English and Italian and will help if any problem arises. If anything makes them unique on tour is flexibility to fit your proposals.
Do you book flights?
In most cases, the flight ticket is NOT included, because our clients come from literally all corners of the world and groups are generally mixed. However, on request, we can include a flight ticket for you and book your flight.
